Spreading the word about the growing presence of progressive Alaskans and their powerful ideas on the web
HA Obama supports tort reform? Sure he does, that is why it was nowhere to be found in the Health Care bill.
anon, maybe if the GOP had participated 1%, it might be there. He sort of implies that, doesn't he?
tort reform is nothing more than a mythical strawman thrown up before an uninformed and misinformed public. It's meant to be a diversionary tactic utilized for purely obstructionist means. Not one of the so-called 'tort reforms' has ever lowered the costs they've claimed. All tort reform has ever done is given a free pass for the corporate and wealth interests to stick it to the lower classes. Those costs kept rising. There was no impact.Obama get's that. He's punking them and they know it. That's why all they can do by way of their reaction is to sputter and fume now that he's called their bluff.Remember the last time 'tort reform' was passed?Any one example of the several 'tort reforms' that have been tossed up over the years? Here's what's happened each and every time any of those so-called 'tort reforms' passed. The public was fed the line that if they'd just pass tort reform, all their problems would be solved, their insurance bills, etc., would plummet and the good old USA would find itself in the land of milk and honey. What happened ? Nothing like that. Nothing at all like that. The insurance agencies, the lawyers, and the corporate interests laughed their heads off, your costs, premiums and fees kept going up, and nothing changed, unless you count the politicans who also laughed, laughed their way right back into re-election so they could play the public for fools all over again, and a few more people ended up on the losing end of malpractice, malfeasance and outright fraud and corruption.and that imbecilic public went right back to buying into the same scam each time it's been pulled on them. And several are only too demonstrably avid and eager to be played for fools once again. The vast majority of the Alaskan voting public is uninformed, uneducated and incompetent.Look for Alaska voters to encourage those who can play them for fools to go right ahead and do so again. They are positively giddy over the prospect.freeper
freeper- apparently you have never operated any kind of moderately complex business or you would know that tort reform is needed on every level for all types of litigation-OR- you are a sleazy attorney who benefits from all the needless attorney generated BS that takes place in the court system
Phil, do you actually believe Obama when he "implies" something? He can't even live up to his promises when he clearly states them... See "Torture", "Gitmo" "transparency" "CSPAN", "no new taxes on the middle class" "fiscal responsibility" ad naseum. He reminds me of Charles Durning in the Best Little Whorehouse in Texas"Fellow Texans, I am proudly standing here to humbly see. I assure you, and I mean it- Now, who says I don't speak out as plain as day? And, fellow Texans, I'm for progress and the flag- long may it fly. I'm a poor boy, come to greatness. So, it follows that I cannot tell a lie.Ooh I love to dance a little sidestep, now they see me now they don't- I've come and gone and, ooh I love to sweep around the wide step, cut a little swathe and lead the people on."
anon@6:47,the only sleaze is coming out of the lobbyists and politicians who promise you that 'tort reform' is needed. No credible reports or studies have shown anything close to what you need to substantiate your claim. You've been fed a line and you swallowed it.But I see you're not much interested in reality, you try to create your own.Like when you attempt to put me in some box you designed. You failed, on all counts. You've only demonstrated that you're likely to be played again and again because you've demonstrated here that you're incapable of looking, or just unwilling, to look past your need to create false assumptions and your erroneous preconceptions.Happens all the time, it's just that some folks who are as gullible as that aren't out demonstrating how ardently they intend to go on being unwitting and gullible. Some folks have actually learned to look past the lines they've been fed to see if there was any truth to what they've been fed.Try it. You might save yourself from yourself yet.
"-OR- you are a sleazy attorney who benefits from all the needless attorney generated BS that takes place in the court system"Anon @ 6:47 PM....I think you nailed it, buddy !
FreeperWOW sticking up for the grossly inefficent, corrupt and bloated legal system! And you wonder who the pawn is?At least you are in the company of your peers down in the gutter, Bill Allen and Ted Stevens sure love it.
what I can surmise from the comments is that several of the anonymous poster's reading comprehension levels are seriously deficient. Again, none of you can produce a credible study to back up this fictitious call for 'tort reform'.Tort reform has never produced what it's promised to produce, and in fact, each time 'tort reform' is passed, the only winners are corporate entities and the wealthy. There is no evidence to show any other reality. All you have left to you is to lamely attempt to defend your myth are your erroneous, unfounded, very weak and unsuccessful attempts to attack me personally. That only shows you have no other defense than that of a small child faced with confronting his fantasies, you have nothing but your own insecurity left to you, which you are all too happy, like that small child, to put on very public display. If your position had any merit, you'd be able to point to some evidence that would substantiate your opinion. You failed on all counts.freeperYou do though, epitomize those of your ilk that rely only on their myths and fantasies, together with their insecurity, to refuse to face a reality that you're ill-equipped to deal with.
